Maintaining Healthy Dental Habits On Vacation

Maintaining Healthy Dental Habits On Vacation

Now that summer is upon us, school is out, and the weather is beautiful and sunny, many people will be heading to their favorite vacation spots! But just because you’re on vacation, this doesn’t mean you get a break from your oral hygiene habits! In fact, the change in diet and routine may actually make it even more important to stay on top of your dental health.

Below are a few tips on how to make sure your teeth stay healthy while you’re having fun in the sun:

  • Make An Appointment – Set up appointments for the whole family at Longmont Dental & Orthodontics before going on your vacation. It’ll be easier to maintain a clean, healthy smile if you’ve had a thorough cleaning before you go.
  • Stick To Your Routine – We know that it’s tempting to go to straight to bed after a long day of fun! But it’s important to stick to your regular dental hygiene routine to avoid any unpleasant situations later on. Make sure the whole family is remembering to brush and floss at their regular times.
  • Make A Travel Bag – Make sure each member of the family has an oral hygiene travel bag! Travel-sized items make everything so much easier and there are travel-sized options for everything to need to keep your mouth and teeth healthy on vacation. Your travel bag should include a toothbrush, toothbrush protector, floss, and mouthwash.
  • Stay Aware – Sugary drinks and snacks are a staple of most vacations! We’re definitely not suggesting that you should stay away from any snacks, but make sure to be aware of what you’re eating and brush immediately after any overly sugary meals.

We want you to have a safe and healthy summer! To schedule a dental appointment before your family vacation, please contact Longmont Dental & Orthodontics, located in beautiful Longmont, CO!
