Night Guards

Bruxism, which is when you clench or grind your teeth in your sleep, is usually the result of anxiety and stress. In addition to stress, it can also be caused by an abnormal bite or can be the result of certain sleep disorders. Luckily for your, Dr. Renee Shepherd is able to fit you with a night guard, which will help to protect your teeth from nighttime grinding or clenching. This condition can cause pain and discomfort and we want to help you as much as we can.

When the excessive amount of pressure caused by bruxism becomes a habit, it can often result in a very painful condition called Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome, or TMJ. Unfortunately, it’s common for those suffering from TMJ to be unaware of the nighttime grinding or clenching until the more painful symptoms arise.

Symptoms Of Bruxism

  • Waking up with headaches
  • Jaw soreness
  • Fractured Teeth
  • Teeth that are loose or painful

We know that night guards aren’t the most attractive of devices, but they really are helpful. You should notice a dramatic improvement in your symptoms not long after you’ve begun wearing your night guard to bed.
