Dental veneers are thin shells that cover the front surface of the teeth. They are used when you want to improve the appearance of your smile for any reason, including:

  • Discoloration of the teeth
  • Teeth that are chipped or broken
  • Gaps in between teeth
  • Teeth that have been worn down
  • Teeth that are uneven or irregularly shaped

To receive veneers, you’ll need to come in for three separate appointments – a consultation, a visit to create a mold of your mouth, the last visit to have the veneers applied to your teeth.

What To Expect During The Procedure

At the first consultation visit you’ll discuss with Dr. Renee Shepherd the results that you’d like to achieve for your teeth. Dr. Shepherd will conduct an examination of your teeth in order to make sure that you’re an ideal candidate for veneers. At the second visit, around ½ millimeter of the enamel will be removed from the surface of the teeth that are to receive veneers, and an mold will be taken of your mouth. This mold is then sent to a dental lab that will be able to construct the veneers. At your third and last visit, usually a week or two after the second, your teeth will be thoroughly cleaned and polished, and the veneers will be placed on your teeth and cemented down.
