Intraoral Camera

An intraoral camera is a small video camera, which looks like a large pen and can take an X-Ray of the surface of a tooth or of your gums. The camera is fitted with a protective sheath, which will be replaced for each new patient who receives the X-Ray. Dr. Renee Shepherd will insert the camera into your mouth and move it around to achieve the best view. Meanwhile, the images will be watched in real time on the monitor!

Intraoral cameras are still relatively new dental devices. But they have already made it so much easier for your dentist to diagnose dental conditions such as cracked teeth and tooth decay. It’s also an amazing tool for Longmont Dental & Orthodontics to be able to educate our patients.

It’s easy to dismiss dental problems that aren’t painful or don’t show any outward signs of problems. By using the intraoral camera, Dr. Shepherd will be able to show you the problem, which can help solidify a diagnosis for you. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!

Lastly, the intraoral camera can be a great time saver! Pictures can be sent directly to your dental insurance company in order to strengthen claims, and X-Rays can be easily printed, duplicated, or re-taken. This will diminish the time you spend receiving your X-Rays and the time it takes to process your insurance claims.

Your regular dental appointments will go much more quickly and easily with Longmont Dental & Orthodontics’ intraoral camera! To set up an appointment, please contact our office located in Longmont, CO.
